Getting Married

Edwin and Jeff Get Married in SF 2004Jeff and I are getting married -- this time after the California Supreme Court ruling affirming marriage equality for same-sex couples. The appointment is for Friday, August 22, 2008 in San Francisco. We got married back in 2004 (pictured), but it was invalidated by the state supreme court so we're doing it again. See the California same-sex marriage FAQ for more information. We're getting married before the November ballot initiative that could amend the state constitution to revoke it again. Vote No on Proposition 8. If you'd like to help support equality, please visit Equality for All.

We're choosing to have a civil ceremony performed at SF City Hall to legally validate the marriage which limits us to 6 guests so we're planning to have another event later in the year for all our friends and family. Stay tuned.

Cool Podcast: Point of Inquiry

I've been listening to various podcasts and one that is less well-known that I particularly enjoy is "Point of Inquiry". There are some really great interviews with top scientists and intellectuals. For example, from watching science programs such as Nova, I'm a fan of Neil deGrasse Tyson and there are some great interviews where he shares his opinions on topics such as politics and education. Other notable interviews I've listened to are with Paul Kurtz, Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, and others. The interviewer, D. J. Grothe is also one of my favorite interviewers. There is a complete archive starting from Dec 2005 that I've slowly been listening to. Using iTunes as a podcatcher, there is an easy way to access the full archive via iTunes which is free.

California Supreme Court Ruling for Equality

Last Thursday the California Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality regardless of sexual orientation. Calling a legal relationship a "Domestic Partnership" or "Civil Union" even if it has all the same implications as "Marriage" is not equal. If it were truly equal then why is it called something different and has different forms and procedures?
